“Unleash Your Creativity”: The Book That Changed Everything for Me
There are books that fall into your hands at just the right moment, as if they were an answer to an inner calling. For me, Julia Cameron's Unleash Your Creativity: The Artist's Bible was one of those books.
I discovered this treasure thanks to a creator I admire a lot: the founder of Okan Studio. In one of her Instagram posts, she shared her routine to boost her creativity and mentioned this book as a real revelation. At that time, I was going through a period where my creativity seemed to be on standby. So, a little curious and full of hope, I decided to give it a try.
A 12-week program to rediscover yourself
This book offers a structured 12-week program to awaken and nourish your creativity, no matter your discipline: painting, writing, sculpture, cooking, or even entrepreneurship. What I loved is that the book is for everyone, even those who think they are not "creative".
Each week, there are practical exercises: some are mandatory, others optional, to be chosen according to what speaks to you the most. Among the flagship exercises, there is one that Julia Cameron calls "the morning pages".
Morning Pages: A Powerful Tool
The principle is simple: write three pages every morning, without thinking, without filter, without judging yourself. The goal is not to produce a perfect text, but to free your mind from all the thoughts that are going round in circles. A real mental gymnastics!
I'm not going to lie: at first, it was a real challenge for me. I'm not a big fan of writing and I was wondering what to write. Fortunately, the book guides me step by step, with kindness. Over time, this exercise allowed me to better understand myself, clarify my desires, and make room for new ideas.
This book, the beginning of a new adventure
It was thanks to this book that, when Gwen asked me to launch atantô Brussels together, I had the confidence to say "yes". I was in the 10th week of the program, and this inner work had helped me open doors that I thought were closed. This project became an opportunity that I was ready to seize.
A nugget to share
Today, I recommend this book with my eyes closed to anyone who feels the need to reconnect with their creativity or find a direction. I can only hope that it will open up new perspectives for you too and give you the impetus to seize unexpected opportunities.
And you? What are the books that have transformed or inspired you? Share your nuggets in the comments, I would be delighted to discover them!
See you later,
Fanny
